Serious Performance with Plug & Play Convenience

by Mike Torlone

Electro-Voice's System 2000 began as a simple idea: to provide excellent sound quality, incredible flexibility and high acoustic output in an easy to move, easy to use audio system.

System 2000 embodies the same technologies and many of the same sonic characteristics of the Electro-Voice X-Array concert sound that has won worldwide acclaim (with the Rolling Stones and others) as the finest sound system in the world.

System 2000 speaker systems have become the most popular portable speakers on the market. Although these systems were conceived for portable use, their incredible performance and flexibility have made them a favorite of audio designers for use in places like Comiskey Park in Chicago and Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, IN to replace much larger, more expensive systems. Yes, they're that good!

Although different in size and output capability, System 2000 speakers share many features. Their enclosures are made of molded plastic that is stronger, yet much lighter than a wood system. They can easily handle the rigors of transportation and being exposed to sun, rain and snow. Their built-in hang points and range of hardware allow them to be pole-mounted, flown and arrayed easily.

They all use EV's legendary acoustic innovations such as Constant-directivity horns for well-controlled dispersion and optimally vented low-frequency sections for good bass impact. They also have Ring-Mode Decoupling (RMDTM) that gives System 2000 speakers the cleanest, most pure vocals and detailed midrange performance.

There is a wide range of models available from the Sx80 8-inch two-way (barely bigger than a shoebox) to the 12-inch two-way Sx300 and the large-format Sx500+ with its vented horn low-frequency section.

The new PSX2000 was to provide all the essential features needed for most sound reinforcement applications in one easy-to-use package. The PSX2000 has more power, more features and more extras than any other integrated unit on the market.

The amps in the PSX2000 will deliver 340 watts per channel at 8 ohms, 570 watts per channel at 4 ohms and 650 watts per channel at 2 ohms. The amp has EV's exclusive Dynamic Signal Processing circuitry that improves bass and dynamic help System 2000 speakers to sound their very best.

The PSX2000 has 10 mic and 14 line inputs plus 18 inputs can actually be used simultaneously because there are separate gain controls for the mic and line inputs. There are two high-performance 18-bit digital effects processors with 100 programs each that have a wide array of reverbs, delays and other multi-effects.

The PSX2000 has built-in graphic equalizers, a feedback filter, tape inputs and outputs and an extensive patchbay with balanced inputs and outputs. It even comes with a locking metal cover and comfortable handles for easy transportation. There's no other integrated unit or combination of separates that can touch the performance or features of the PSX2000 anywhere near a 44-lb package. Listen to it-I guarantee you'll be impressed!
